This season was very different for me. The team that I joined has basically dissolved and everyone has moved on. Some are with new coaches, some are taking a break from triathlon, and others are doing their own thing. I have fallen into the last category. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of these women and continue to work out with most of them. It was just different not having our team together. I loved getting together with everyone two days a week for our workouts. However, life is ever changing and we all must adapt. Continue reading “Practicing Positivity”
Time. It’s something that constantly changes with every second, but is never guaranteed. Everyone who is reading this post currently has time on their side but you don’t know how long you have. You could have another 90 years of life or 90 seconds. It’s not up to you either.
“I close my eyes, and think of home
Another city goes by in the night
Ain’t it funny how it is, you never miss it ’til it’s
And my heart is lying there and will be ’til my
Don’t waste your time always searching for
those wasted years
Face up… make your stand
And realize you’re living in the golden years”
Now is your time. Now is the time of your life. The best years of your life are not to come. You’re living in them now. So, cherish the time that you have. Love your family and friends. Take advantage of new opportunities and adventures. Live is a precious gift and you should embrace it and live it to the fullest. Continue reading “Golden Years”
It’s springtime again and we all know what that means – baseball is here!! I can’t begin to tell you how happy this makes me. What’s even better is that I have someone who shares my love for this sport.
Kenny was able to get his hands on Spring Training tickets for the Minnesota Twins vs. Tampa Bay Rays. The game was on a Friday afternoon and he asked if I could get the day off. Um, duh! Like that’s even a question??
So, we played hooky on Friday and drove up to Port Charlotte to Charlotte Sports Park to watch the boys battle.
Envy is a dark feeling that always leaves us wanting more. As greedy Americans, we always want bigger and better things. Most of it is just materialistic stuff, but some of it isn’t. Everyone at some point in their life wants something that someone else possesses but cannot have themselves. I am no exception to this statement. Continue reading “Envy”
I can’t believe that my little nephew is ONE already!! Where did this year go??
Colin Huston was born on February 28, 2015. I am so glad that I was able to return to California to help celebrate his first year of life. It was amazing to see all of the family and close friends who came out to share this special day with Colin and his parents. It proved that there is nothing but love for this little guy and I know he cherishes it all.
Oh, heeeeyyyyyy there, last day of September. When did you get here? I cannot believe how fast this year has flown by. It’s insane to me. Nine months of 2015 are over and done with. Not that y’all aren’t aware of this already. However, I am super excited for October. It holds my favorite holiday!
I was on a business trip in California and since I’m crazy, I decided to look up local races that were in town. I was honestly just looking for a 5-10K, something to keep me going while out of Florida for 10 days. But wouldn’t you know, I found a Sprint Triathlon over the weekend I was in town! It was located inside the U.S. Marine Base, Camp Pendleton – Semper Tri. I HAD to sign up! What girl wouldn’t want to race with a bunch of our military’s finest cheering her on?? Continue reading “Semper Tri – HOORAH”
I’m not very good at looking back and reflecting on where I have come from and how much I have progressed. I’m currently training for my first Olympic distance triathlon and I feel like I should be farther along than where I currently am. I am terrible about comparing myself with others and rarely compare myself to who I was yesterday or the day before.
I decided to redesign my blog, not only in the look, but the name as well. One constant thing in life that I can count on is change. Challenges, experiences, and adventures have changed, formed, and molded me into the person I am today.
Renaming my blog “Training for Life” sounds cheesy and cliché, but that’s how I currently view my life. In the past year, I became a triathlete, therefore I am always training and striving to become a better athlete than I was yesterday.
I can’t believe how fast time is flying by. Two months of 2015 are already GONE! Never to be seen again! So crazy!! Something that is even more crazy to me is that on February 14, I celebrated one year of being a Florida resident. INSANE!!
I love Spring. There is a sense of freshness in the air, and not just beautiful flowers. New beginnings happen in Springtime. Two notable beginnings are Major League Baseball and Triathlon season! Continue reading “Spring Training”
